Zelma was a retired employee of the Roanoke Chapter of the American Red Cross. She was a past president of the Quota Club and the Roanoke Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She was a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by a son, Thomas M. Story.

Surviving are her husband, Hugh F. Anderson; one son, Guy F. Story, Jr., Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Vaughan, Greensboro, NC, Mrs. Edith Penny, Durham, NC.
