Mr. Cram is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters Kathleen (Reg) Green of Cedar Falls, Jane (Martin) Cumpston of Farragut, Tenn., Susan of Castle Rock, Colo. and Christine (Kurt) Barry of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 7 grandchildren; sister, Betty Allgood of Grinnell; brother Bob (Marge) of Chandler, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances; brothers, Raymond and LaVaughn; and his infant daughter, Diane.
"Del" was born February 7, 1921 to Lee and Mary Ann Cram in Brooklyn, Iowa. He graduated from Brooklyn High School and received his degree from the University of Iowa. Del served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater where he saw 309 days of combat. Following his discharge, he returned home and began his teaching career as a science teacher and coach at Monticello, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Ruth Potter in May of 1947. After receiving his Masters Degree, Del became the Junior High Principal in Humboldt and in 1951 became the Principal of the Humboldt High School where he remained for 32 years.
Del was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Humboldt Homes Board for many years and was active in the Rotary Club. He was a member of the Retired School Personnel, the Humboldt Library Board, the American Legion, and several professional organizations. He delivered meals on wheels and worked in the Food Pantry.
