Lucille was the daughter of Lucille G. Combs who was born in Maryland and died in Newark, OH and Lawrence B. Crane also born in Maryland and died in Grafton, West Virginia. She had four brothers, Donald, Owen, Albert, and John.

In 1934, she married Jacob Arnold Peterson. Together they had five children. He passed away in 1949. Lucille then married Samuel D. Fenters. Mr. Fenters died in 1968. Her final husband, William B. Allen, passed away in 1976.

Lucille obtained her teaching certificate at West Virginia Wesleyan. In 1959, she earned her Bachelor's Degree at Miami University at Oxford, OH.

She taught first grade at Vandalia Elementary, Vandalia, OH for 18 years, approximately 1950 to 1968 when she retired.

She belonged to the Vandalia United Methodist Church, Vandalia Sister Cities, Vandalia-Butler Historical Society, Vandalia Senior Center, the Eastern Star, (she was a Past Matron of the Camilla Chapter), the DAR and the OEA.
