Lyman Crittenden was from the Princeton Seminary. He was from the Presbytery of Pittsburgh. He and his family came to Bozeman Montana in September of 1872, and with his daughter opened a private school. Rev Crittenden gave several years of faithful service as pastor and educator in the Gallatin Valley. He established the Gallatin Valley Female Seminary in (Hamilton) Manhattan area in 1874.
