He purchased the Bedell Sawmill property on Old Mill Road and in his 1833 will, he willed it to his younger brother, Reuben Crocheron. He was nominated to the Senate in 1823 and in 1828 was the First Judge of the County of Richmond. In 1832, it was reported that he had presided as chairman of a meeting of Republicans on Staten Island.
