There is a story which was given to Royden W. Vosburgh in 1923 by the sexton George J. Roberge concerning the funeral of Catharine. When her body was brought for internment, the city authorities would not grant a permit to bury her in the second section of the Reformed Dutch Cemetery on Staten Island. Her body remained in the church overnight. The difficulty was finally solved by burying Catharine Crocheron in a grave formerly occupied by a Mrs. Treadwell in the third section of the cemetery.
