Margaret married Robert Baker on February 6, 1952, in New Market, England, they spent their first years in Europe, Illinois, and California, raising five children and finally settling in Everett in 1969.
Margaret was employed as a caterer in Chicago for Gapers, and was the chef of Everett Trust and Savings Bank, Olympic Bank, and First Interstate Bank. Her passion in life was cooking, as was evidenced by a lifetime of experimentation in the kitchen and a love of collecting and publishing cookbooks. Margaret was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, active in many parish activities including St. Mary's Guild. She was an avid reader, loved estate sales, traveling, and gardening. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she encountered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Audrey Cronin; husband, Robert Baker; brother, Thomas Cronin Jr.; sister, Mary Ellen (Marion) Cronin; and her grandson, Christian Putnam.
Margaret is survived by her four daughters, Pat (Milt) Putnam, Peg (Steve) Skiftenes, Barb (Dick) Hutsell, and Mary (Mike) Scanes; son, Dan Baker; special friend, Barbara Bergley; grandchildren, Justin and Stacy Skiftenes, Stephanie and Samuel Hutsell, and Dylan and Danielle Scanes; sisters, Audrey Adams, and Georgeanne Pyke; brother-in-law, J.D. (Essie) Baker; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Bosket Family.
The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 18, at Immaculate Conception Church, 2501 Hoyt Avenue, Everett.
