Vera Louise Ball
BALL, Vera Louise – Age 74 of Linus Oaks Retirement Village in Roseburg, passed away Thursday, August 14, 1997 at Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Ball was born October 22, 1923 in Grapevine, Texas to Robert & Zella (Shockey) Cunningham. She married Thomas G. Ball, March 4, 1950 at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas. A consummate homemaker and mother, she accompanied on tours of duty with the US Air Force that took her to California, Texas, Nebraska and Japan. Her membership in associations such as toe Officers Wives Club, her leadership of many Brownie and Girl Scout Troops and her involvement in Benevolent societies of the Free Masonry during each of the families duty station, exemplifies her life long commitment to family, friends and community. Mrs. Ball moved to Tehachapi, California in 1976 after her husbands retirement from the Air Force. Following the death of her husband in October 1987 she returned to Texas to be with family and friends. Mrs. Ball moved to Roseburg, Oregon in 1994 to be closer to her grandchildren. While living at Linus Oaks, she participated in the Womens Auxiliary at Mercy Medical Center. Survivors include her daughters, Judith Kay Chapman of Fredricksburg, Virginia and Jackie Lynn Ritter of Oakland, Oregon. Inurnment will be at March Air Force Base Memorial Cemetery in Riverside. California. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to a local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of WILSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES, Roseburg, Oregon.
