LONGMEADOW - Mary Ellen (Curley) Connor, 88, of Longmeadow, died Wednesday morning April 5, 2006 in the Jewish Nursing Home, Longmeadow. Mary was a receptionist for several years at Baystate Gas, and retired in 1980. She had previously worked for the former New England Telephone Company as an operator for many years. Born in Springfield on March 3, 1918 a daughter of the late Michael and Nellie (Maloney) Curley, she was raised in Springfield where she attended the Springfield School System and graduated from Cathedral High School. Mary has resided in Longmeadow for the past 53 years and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, and member of the Longmeadow Golden Age Club. She was predeceased by her husband, James C. Connor and a son, Michael J. Connor. Mary is survived by 3 sons, James C. Connor and his wife Linda of Fort Collins, CO, David M. Connor of New London, CT, and Paul J. Connor of Pittsfield, MA; 2 daughters, Alice M. O'Neil and her husband Richard of Southington, CT, and Virginia M. Dendievel and her husband Ron of Longmeadow; a brother, Robert Curley of Wilbraham; 2 sisters, Helen Vadnais of Agawam and Margaret Mastroianni of Springfield; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews. Mary's funeral will be Wednesday morning April 12, 2006 at 8:30 a.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow. Rites of Committal to follow in Longmeadow Cemetery .
