Joan (Nana) C. Adams, 74 years, passed away August 21, 2009 in Yuma from heart failure.

Joan was born December 3, 1934 Newburyport, Massachusetts. She graduated from Enfield High School in 1954 from Enfield, New Hampshire.

Joan worked in Supply at the Yuma Marine Air Base, where she received many awards and commendations for many years of faithful service. Before working in Supply, she worked as a cashier at the Yuma Commissary and Ft. Richardson, Alaska. Joan loved playing Bingo, collecting rare coins, watching the Oakland A's baseball, was a dog lover, and her recent pet "Lady", a Rat Terrier.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Dawn Rico Angermeier (Frank) of Yuma; sons Norman Adams of Yuma, and Anthony Snedeker of Barnsted, New Hampshire; sisters Phyllis Snedeker of Pittsfield, New Hampshire and Betty Hanford of Farmington, New Hampshire; granddaughters Lavita Rico of Yuma and Raegina (Mike) Rico-Beeden of Phoenix; and grandson Daniel (Annebell) Rico III of Yuma. Five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins of the east coast.

Joan was preceded in death by ex-husband Bradley Adams; parents Madeline Morse and Frank Currier; son Bradley A. Adams; sisters Margaret Zavac and Barbara Lewis; and brother-in-law Johnny Snedeker.

A service will be held December 3, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Desert Lawn Memorial Park with burial to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Special Olympics of Yuma.
