Sep 04 1943 - Mar 10 2011

New Iberia – Funeral services will be at 4:00 PM , Saturday, March 12, 2011 , at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Sarite BACQUÉ, 67, who passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 in New Iberia .

She was born in Alabama on September 4, 1943 to Kate GRONER and the late Cleve CURRIER. Raised partly with her cousins Roy Nels BOUTTÉ and Anita [MAY] BRITT with the assistance of their grandmother Olsa UNDERWOOD [NELSON] and Aunts Sarah Elise [NELSON] BOUTTÉ and Margarite [NELSON] MAY. Sarite was a graduate of USL with a BA in Fine Arts. During college she met her future husband Henry BACQUÉ on a double date, each with another date. Sarite married Henry BACQUÉ on August 17, 1967 at the home of her parents Kate and Marion GRONER in New Iberia by Henry's Uncle, Monsignor BACQUÉ. 'She was the perfect military wife, treating each new assignment like a grand adventure' –Henry BACQUÉ. 'Fostering the love of adventure and travel in our three children.' On borrowed time from a liver transplant in 2000, Sarite was a woman who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Ten years ago, when asked by a transplant team of doctors why she wanted to live she said: 'To know my grandchildren'. She never asked 'why me?' or complained of her pain. She was always thankful for her time with her family. Sarite was a remarkable woman.
