Jack enlisted in the RCAF in 1940. He trained in Toronto, Regina, Brandon, Calgary and Fingal before being shipped to England. He was a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner. Rank: Pilot Officer.

On May 8, 1942, his aircraft left the base at 9:22 pm for a bombing raid over Warnamunde. The aircraft and crew was never heard from again. Jack was presumed dead on May 9, 1942.

He is also remembered on a family marker at Hillview Cemetery in Woodstock, Ontario.
