Elvie M. (Daniel) Cramer, 92, Martinsville, passed away at 12:55 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
On Thursday, October 17, 1918 she was born on Burksville, Kentucky, to the late Edward "Ed" and Barbara (Long) Daniel.
She married Alton Lee McGuffey in 1943 and in 1944 he was killed during WWII. She then married James Thomas on August 30, 1947 and he died on December 19, 1980.
Elvie was a homemaker and worked at IGA South in the deli department for 13 years; prior to that she worked for Martinsville Coil at the Camby location. She was a member of the Morgan County Beef Cattle Association and enjoyed her grandchildren, garden and chickens.
Survivors are her son, Roy Joe McGuffey and wife Jackie of Martinsville; grandsons, Roy Allen McGuffey and wife Erin and Neal Joseph McGuffey and wife Laura both of Martinsville; great grandchildren, Lillian, Gwendolynn and Alton Joseph.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Willie Wayne Daniel and Mitchell Daniel.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be Monday, September 26, 2011 at Costin Funeral Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday one hour prior the funeral service.
Burial will be in the Centennial Cemetery at Martinsville.
