Her name is frequently seen as Hester in the census and in her childrens' obits.

Mrs Esther Daniel Cooper died at the Baptist Hospital at 12:25 o'clock this morning after an illness of only a few days. Death was due to pneumonia.

Mrs Cooper, who was the widow of William Cooper, who died February 23, 1919, had made her home in Columbia for 16 years, the Cooper family moving here at that time from Williamsburg County. During these years she had made many friends who will join with the family in mourning her death. She was a woman of many fine traits of character and her sudden death has caused widespread sorrow.

Mrs Cooper was born at Indiantown, Williamsburg County, 65 years ago. Before marriage she was Miss Esther Daniel.

Surviving are nine children: William Pressley Cooper, Daniel Battle Cooper, John Hughes Cooper, Paul Anderson Cooper, Mrs Eloise Cooper Alderman, Mrs Mecca Cooper Preston, all of Columbia, Mrs Marie Cooper deTreville of Atlanta, Mrs Grace Cooper North of New York City, and Mrs Jacqueline Cooper Easterday of Washington, DC. She also leaves two brothers, Clarence C Daniel and James D Daniel, both of Lake City; and two sisters, Mrs H O Britten of Kingstree, and Mrs George A Cooper of Indiantown.

While her home was under construction on Shandon Terrace, Mrs Cooper was living with her daughter, Mrs George A Alderman in Wales Garden. The body was taken to Mrs Alderman's home.

Mrs Cooper was a faithful and consistent member of the Presbyterian Church.
