Martha Louise Bourne died peacefully with her family by her side on October 2, 2010. She was born in Millen Ga. on December 21, 1923 and was the daughter of the late Martha Louise Daniel and Murias Murello Daniel of Florence.

Martha graduated from Millen high School in Millen, Ga. and attended Ward Belmont School in Nashville, Tenn. She studied piano and voice at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City with Miss Lenore Kraeuter and Hardesty Johnson, and marimba with Joseph Castka of the Radio City Music Hall Symphony Orchestra. She performed with various orchestras throughout the southeast and taught piano.
Martha was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church where she also served as the Choir Director.

Surviving are her husband, James Sparkman "Sparkie" Bourne, Jr. of Georgetown; two daughters, Shirley Lynette Bourne-Miller (Edwin) of Mt. Pleasant and Martha Patrice Ramsbottom (Jim) of Austin, Tex.; two sons, James Sparkman "Sparkie" Bourne, III (Carolyn) of Georgetown and Carlton Mitchell "Mickey" Bourne (Sue) of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Harold Clayton Daniel of Monroe, N. C.; three grandchildren, Lucas James Bourne of Cary, N. C., Berkeley Patrice Ramsbottom of Austin, Tex., and Townsend Leigh Bourne of Arlington, Va.; and a great-granddaughter, Arianna Bourne of Cary, N. C.

Martha was a devoted wife and mother and loved to play bridge. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, October 6, 2010, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. G. Edward Usher. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
