He began his career at Louisiana Power & Light and continued with them for 37 years, first as a Planning manager when LP&L was doubling every five years. His other duties included substation design, transmission protective relaying, and designing lines to withstand direct lightning strikes. His last five years at LP&L was as Chief Engineer. In 1981 he was transferred to Middle South Services (now Entergy) as VP or Planning and Operations. He retired from Middle South (Entergy) in 1985 to become an Electrical Engineering Professor on the Tulane University faculty and continued in the capacity until 1991. His principal research was searching for physiological effects of 60 and 120Hz radiation on humans.
Mr. Davey was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Ritter Davey and his brother Rex Davey. He is survived by his daughter Candace Jean Davey and her daughter Masha Jacquelene Davey, his son Dr. Kent Ritter Davey (Lana) and their children Adrian and Zachary, his brother Paul, and four nieces and three nephews.
Visitation will be Friday October 31, 2014 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans LA. Funeral will start at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
