Death Toll Now Stands At Four in Bay Mishap
A two car collision on Highway 36 on the outskirts of Williams Bay claimed the lives of four persons Saturday including that of James A Davidson, son of a founder of the Harley-Davidson Motor Co , his wife and their son in addition to Britta Felleson. Wife of the driver in the second car. The accident occurred when the Davidson station wagon was struck at the intersection of Theatre road by a sedan driven by Elmer Felleson, 55, of Skokie, ILL.
Authorities said Davidson. 38, his wife, Irene. 34, and their son, Arthur, 4, were killed outright in the collision. Their two daughters, Mary Ellen, 8, and Martha, 5, were in fair condition at the Lake land hospital in Elkhorn. Martha reportedly had a fracture of the left leg, cut and bruises and Mary Ellen was suffering from multiple abrasions, severe face cuts and possibly head and chest injuries.
Walworth county sheriffs deputies said Davidsons car was westbound on highway 36 when it was struck by Fellesons sedan at the Theatre road intersection – Felleson, who was uninjured, was charged with failure to yield the right of way and is scheduled, to appear before Walworth County Judge Irvin Zastrow in Elkhorn on Jan. 17.
Passengers in Fellesons car included his wife, Britta, 54, who was in critical condition and later died at Lakeland hospital from internal injuries, George Erickson. 66 and his wife, Elsa, 57, of Morton Grove, ILL. listed in fair condition, both with head and chest injuries.
Davidson, who was the son of Arthur Davidson, one of three founders of the Harley-Davidson firm which manufactures motorcycles, was a partner in Frits Buerger, Inc , 5815 N. Santa Monica blvd , Whltefish Bay, importer of wood carvings.
They were reportedly on their wav home after spending the weekend at a Lake Delavan Resort.
