Muriel D. Baker, age 94 of Wilmington and formerly of Milford, De passed away quietly on Monday, July 21, 2014.

Muriel was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Mary H. Davis. Prior to retiring, she worked at Dupont in the Accounts Payables department.

She was a member of St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church where she was active in the SMS Sodality. She was Junior Board Member at St. Francis Hospital for over 25 years. In her earlier years, she was a Sigma Phi Girl and often helped in fundraising with various civic and health non-profit organizations. Muriel enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.

Preceded in death was her husband of 57 years, Robert E. "Bob" Baker who passed in 2002, and her two brothers William and Joseph Davis. She is survived by her only daughter, Carol J. Thorn (James); her two grandchildren, Megan McMackin (Jim) and Ryan Thorn; two great granddaughters, her angels, Kaitlyn and Leah McMackin; and her sister, Louise E. Workman.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 901 East Newport Pike, Wilmington where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
