My great great aunt. Beloved daughter of John Calhoun Davis and Nancy Emily Watts, (her oldest brother, James G. Augustine Davis is my great great grandfather), she was the wife of city attorney Charles Akerman. She passed away in a rest home in Spartanburg, S.C. She was a native of Lawrence County, but had lived most of her life in Macon, Ga., where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Daughters of the Colonists. She was also a state regent of the D.A.R. for Georgia and regent of the Mary Hammond Washington Chapter of the D.A.R. She served as president of the Woman's Club and was a member of the Macon History Club, Vineville Garden Club and Colonial Dames. During World War I, she initiated a drive for the purchase and donations of ambulances for the American Red Cross. She was survived by a brother, James R. Davis, Sr., Mrs. Chis A. Walker and several nieces and nephews.
