BONNIE DAVIS

Bonnie Jean Davis, of Las Vegas, passed away Jan. 29, 2014, at the age of 82. Bonnie was born March 3, 1931, to Barney Zigtema and Rena Slingerland, in Pasadena, Calif. She moved with her parents to Las Vegas shortly after her birth and was very proud of being a lifelong resident of Las Vegas. She attended the 5th Street Elementary School and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1948. She went on to college and graduated with a registered nursing degree from the Good Samaritan Hospital nursing program in Phoenix. Bonnie worked at the Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital (now UMC) and as a nurse for several private physicians before becoming the student campus nurse at UNLV. After enjoying several years of retirement she returned to work to help start Davis Funeral Homes with the family. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile-El Giza Chapter #139, Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Assistance League of Las Vegas. Bonnie's membership at Spanish Trail Country Club was her favorite club membership as she spent many days there playing bridge and enjoying the social company of her friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, of 42 years, Richard A. Davis; her parents; and her youngest son, Charles "C.K." Davis. Bonnie is survived by her sons, Gary Davis of Las Vegas, and Alan Davis of Tomah, Wis.; her sister, Phyllis Nebron of Henderson; four grandchildren, Bryan Davis, Dustin Davis and Crystal Davis, all of Las Vegas, and Glenn Davis of Tomah; and five great-grandchildren, Alexis Davis, Zoe Davis and Lincoln Davis, all of Las Vegas, Ethyn Davis and Aria Davis of Tomah. There will be a funeral service celebrating her life at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at The Crossing Church, 7950 W. Windmill Lane. Reception will be follow at Spanish Trail Country Club, 5050 Spanish Trail Lane. Private entombment will be at Davis Memorial Park, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
