Frances N. Avansino, 83, of Virginia City, Nevada died April 26, 2001. Frances was born October 15, 1917 to Robert J. Davis, Sr. and Josephine Stack in Gold Hill, Nevada. She was a Gold Hill native, living in Virginia City and Gold Hill her entire life. Frances enjoyed gardening and reading. She was the last class to graduate from 4th Ward school in Virginia City, Nevada in 1936. She was a member of the Virginia City alumni Association. Frances retired from Bell of Nevada in 1976 after working over 40 years as a telephone operator. She was a Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and also a member of St. Mary's in the Mountains Catholic Church in Virginia City, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Avansino in 1966; brothers, Harry E. Davis in 1996 and Robert J. Davis in 1984. Survivors are: son William Avansino of Virginia City; brothers Richard D. Davis and William Davis of Reno; sister Lillian Petersen of Reno; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren. A rosary will be held Monday April 30, 2001 at 6 p.m. at Walton's Chapel of the Valley funeral home in Carson City, Nevada. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday May 1, 2001 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Mountains Catholic Church in Virginia City, Nevada. Burial will be in Sierra Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Reno, Nevada. Arrangements are being handled by Walton's Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home in Carson City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Virginia City Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
