Mrs. Mary Barton
One hundred twelve living descendants survive Mrs. Mary Ellen Barton, 97, who died of complications of her age at 6:45 p.m. Saturday at the West Third Nursing Home.
Funeral services for her will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John’s Catholic Church with the pastor, the Rev. Clarence Ferring, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday in O’Keefe & Towne Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barton was born Feb. 26, 1872, at Oshkosh, Wis., to William A. and Mary Jane Haskin Dawes. She was married to Thomas Barton on Dec. 17, 1890, at Red Granite, Wis. and moved in 1926 to Waterloo, where she was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and its rosary society
Mres. [sic] Barton is survived by two sons: LeRoy T. of Greensboro, N.C., and Edward W. of 117 Lewis St.; three daughters: Mmes. Lillian Hunt of 304 Candlewich Road, Lee Leopard of Denver, Colo., and LaVerne Nicol of 512 Cedar Bend; 24 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren;2 and 19 great great grandchildren; two sisters: Sister Eulogia, O. P., Sinsinawa, Wis., and Mrs. Emma Nelson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and two brothers: George and Byron Dawes, both of La Cross, Wis. Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her parents and one son, two [illegible] and three sisters.
