Beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Dawes, mother, Vicky Woody, sister Sharon Robitaille, son Charles Champagne and grandson Carrington Costa <96675353>

Sheryl never met a stranger. She truly lived by the scripture Matthew 7:12 "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." She was always ready to help those less fortunate, in need of time, money or spiritual guidance. She had a very difficult upbringing, with her sisters Sherry Curtis of Ferndale, MI and Sharon, but rose above her station and forged a path to a better life.

She worked with the mentally retarded at Southeastern Virginia Training Center in Chesapeake, VA. Physical injuries forced her early retirement, but she never stopped teaching. With her husband, Richard Champagne, they retired. They were very active in the church at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Milton, FL. Sheryl provided aid to those in poor health through Covenant Hospice. She provided spiritual guidance and hope for the future to those incarcerated at Santa Rosa jail and the Blackwater Correctional Facility. Many inmates credit Sheryl with finding God and fostering a relationship with the Lord, Jesus Christ. Sheryl was always trying to save those in need. Sheryl and Richard moved to Ennis, TX to help her daughter adjust to life with Epilepsy. Finally, they settled in Marysville, WA.

There was no such thing as a lost cause to Sheryl. To her dying day, she was helping. Throughout her life, Sheryl battled depression and Bipolar. She touched the hearts of many over her nearly 70 years. More than she ever really knew.

Her legacy lives on in her children, Matthew Costa, Cathy Alspach (Perry), Connie Olsen, all of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael Costa of Sacramento, CA, Virginia Phillips (Robert) of Ennis, TX, Lisa Mathis of Tigard, OR, Michelle Beasley (Eddie) of Navarre, FL, Cindy Wannall of Kenosha, WI, and Chris Link (Adam) of Grandy, NC, daughter-in-law, Regina Champagne of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Joshua Alspach, John Wannall (Jennifer), Danny Alspach, Marina Olsen, Jaime Davis, Kerry Gordon (Russ), Kira Phillips, Samantha Thelen, Jessica Wannall, Chelsea Phillips, Adam Link Jr, Gaby Link, Janna Wannall, Adria Beasley, Kaidyn Mathis, Jessica Beasley, Sunday Garza, and Santiago Garza. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends including: Evelyn Watts, Debbie Corprew, Maryann Smith, Jerry Neilan, Ann Bigelow, Fr. Thom Crandall and Fr. Todd Hevia.

Sheryl requested no memorial service as she felt that being united with God in Heaven deserved a celebration. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
