Betty E. Brubaker, 91, left this earth to meet her Savior 12:50 p.m. Friday.

She was born in Urbana to the late Everett L. and Edna (Cook) Dawes. She married R. Wayne Brubaker on July 6, 1940. He survives.


She retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Factory after 10 years. Betty loved her family, friends, flowers, animals, and IU Basketball.


Betty is survived by her husband of 72 years, R. Wayne Brubaker of Marion; two daughters, Cheryl (Harry) Banter of Marion and Linda (Ron) Callahan-Howe of Jonesboro; two sisters, Peggy (Rex) Sims of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Patty (Keith) Wilder of Marion; seven grandchildren, Andrea Callahan of Fairmount, Keith Callahan of Gas City, John Callahan of Anderson, Aleta Goins of Fort Wayne, Jason (Melissa) Callahan of Wabash, Mark Banter of Marion and Anita Banter of Marion; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob Meisner, Zachory Meisner, Amber Banter, Destiny Banter, Caleb Callahan and Elijah Callahan.


She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gerald Dawes; and three sisters, Bernadine Ayers, Quinneth Dawes and Donna J. Wilder.


Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., with Rev. Richard Case officiating. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park.
