Alma was the daughter of Francis and Virginia Dawes. She married Robert B Campbell on Feb 15, 1894. She married 2nd John Buckingham on July 30, 1937. They did not have children.

August 1, 1950 - Humboldt Independent - Funeral services for Mrs. John Buckingham of Humboldt will be at the Lindhart chapel today, Aug. at 2 p.m. Rev. Joseph Holdon, a retired minister from Humboldt, will officiate.

Mrs. Buckingham died at her home Saturday morning. She lived at the Harry Mayer apartments.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Grey Strong, of Sac City, by a brother L.K. Dawes of Stanwood and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.


Aug 4, 1950 - Humboldt Independent - Alma A. Dawes was born in Rock Branch Settlement, Woodbury county, Nov. 24, 1873. She was the daughter of Francis A. and Virginia Dawes and passed away at Humboldt on July 29, at the age of 76 years.

As a girl she received her education at Kingsley, and on Feb. 15, 1894, she was married to Robert B. Campbell of Kingsley and moved to a farm in that locality on March 1, 1894. They continued farming at Kingsley, Plover, and near Independence until the death of Mr. Campbell at Independence in May 1932.

On July 30, 1937 she was united in marriage to J.P. Buckingham of Humboldt and has made her home here since that time.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1942. also by her mother, father, and three sisters, Clara E., Vinnie, and Bertha; two brothers: Albert and Lewis.

She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Mrs. Grace M. Strong of Sac City; and Leroy K. Dawes of Glenwood; a number of nieces and nephews and friends. For many years she was member of the Methodist church but due to failing eyesight and health had not been a regular attendant.


August 4, 1950 - Humboldt Republican Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mathiason of near Thor; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ernisse of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Frances Ernisse of Florida; Mr. and Mrs. L.K. Dawes of Stanwood; Mrs. Minnie Holland and daughter Mrs. Merrill of Sioux Rapids; attended the funeral of Mrs. John Buckingham of Humboldt Tuesday. The Ernisses were nephews and Mr. Dawes was a brother of Mrs. Buckingham.
