Peg was born March 15, 1925 in Denver, CO. She passed into heaven on May 13, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ivor Roy Dawkins of Apollo, PA. Peg is the daughter of Edward Francis O'Shea and Marguerite Mae McCarthy and the granddaughter of Will O'Shea and Margaret Carmody of Galesburg, IL and James McCarthy and Rose Sancho of Fergus Falls, MN. Peg was raised in east Denver and attended Cathedral High School. After graduation Peg entered St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and during WWII, via the U. S. Government Cadet Corps, continued her training at the veteran's hospital in Albuquerque, NM. There on August 8, 1947 she married Cpl. Ivor Dawkins of the 42nd Army Air Forces. Ivor and Peg returned to Denver where they raised five children: Daniel (Deborah Pomeroy), David O'Shea (Sherry Duran Phillips), Deborah Dawkins, Ann Reno (David) and William (Ann Dea) "under the shadow of St. James Church". Peg continued her nursing career at General Rose Memorial Hospital and retired after 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Father John L. O'Shea (Retired Denver Police Deputy Police Chief). She is survived by her older brother, William O'Shea and her childhood friend of 83 years, Mary Higgins Gracey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christine (Ben) Douglas, Matt Dawkins and Meghan (Carlos) Garza; Rachael and Sarah Hinkley; Charles (Sabrina and Samantha), Jason (Meredith Wood), Josh (Samantha Satterfield) and Erin Reno, Marguerite (Cody) Furgerson; Jessica, Grant and Scott Dawkins; Adam (Jamie Grasser) and John Paul Dawkins. She is survived by her great-grandchildren: Theotis Jamal Davis and Shea Garza; Kaya, Abigail and Luke Douglas; Jacob and Justin Furgerson; Adeline Dawkins and several nieces and nephews of the William (Patricia Forte) and John (Barbara Broderick) O'Shea clans. Peg was an original parishioner of St. James Catholic Parish in East Denver, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, 3rd Age Club, Bereavement Ministry at St. James and a member of the Colorado Emerald Society. Prior to her death Peg wrote, "My faith sustained me and I was grateful for that faith. I enjoyed life, my family and friends that made life so precious. My greatest roles were wife, mother and grandmother." Her likes will not be seen again. Recitation of the Rosary followed by a Funeral Mass, 10:15 AM, Wednesday, May 19, St. James Catholic Church, 1311 Oneida St., Denver. Private Interment at Ft. Logan.
