Flora C. Bannister, eighty-five, Girard Presbyterian Home, died Thursday morning at Medicenter Hospital. She was formerly a resident of 949 East 32nd.
She was born Dec 9, 1891, in Olean, N.Y., a daughter of the late Andrew and Susan Perry Dawley. SHe lived in Erie for many years.
Mrs. Bannister retired as a teacher with the Erie School District. She had taught for many years at the former Marshall School. A graduate of Edinboro Normal School and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Presque Isle Chapter; Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church; and Stella O'Shea Circle.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Winifred) Herbert, Erie, Mrs. Clifford (Marian) Paulsen, Erie, Janet Cantor, Erie, and Mrs. Elliott (Dorothy) Jaquith, Ripley, N.Y.; a son, John J. Bannister, Erie; a sister, Marjorie Schoemaker, Erie; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Bannister, in 1966; a brother, Perry Dawley; a sister, Florence Dawley; and a grandchild.
Edgar M. Nelson Funeral Home, 21st and Myrtle, handled the arrangements with Rev. William H. Hopper Jr. pastor of Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church officiating.
