Mrs. Cloe Catherine Altizer, 79, of Shortt Gap, Va., died late
Tuesday at her home after a long illness.
Born in Buchanan County, Va., she was a daughter of the
late Albert and Laura Jewell Day.
She lived in Shortt Gap for 57, years, was a retired postmistress and a member of the
Raven Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by one son, Hubert Altizer.
Survivors are her husband, W. I. Altizer; one daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Edna) Lawson of
Doran, Va.; three sons, Emory Altizer of Cedar Bluff, Va.,
Landon and Harold Altizer, both of Shortt Gap; five sisters, Mrs.
Pearl Altizer of Doran, Mrs. Gladys McGlothlin of Richmond, Vs., Mrs. Gracie Goss
and Mrs. Sally Gilbert, both of Richlands, Va., and Mrs. Abby
Vance of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Gus Day of Rosedale, Va., and Roby Day of Saltville,
Va.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at the Raven Assembly of God Church with the Revs.
Claudie Throgmartin and Ancil Childress officiating. Burial will
follow at Clincy Valley Memorial Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to services.
