Anthony (Tony) de Castro, born in Cebu on May 19, 1919, has gone to his heavenly home on June 3, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones and survived by his loving wife, Frances, of 60 years; son, Anthony (Gloria); and daughters, Marli Perez, Ramona (René) Hill, Rosalind de Castro and Rena (Paul) de Castro-Lobisser. He also leaves 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; nephew, Ricky (Josie) Ablaza and nephew Leonard (Ann) Pena; sister, Rosa; and numerous nieces and nephews of the Philippines.

Tony was a Philippine Scout, a component of the U.S. Army in WWII, walked the Bataan Death March and was M.I.A. while a prisoner of war for a year. He retired from Mare Island Naval Shipyard in 1977 with a total of 37 years of federal civil service.

He was a golfer and member of Blue Rock Springs Golf Club; member of Visayan Circle of Northern California; Fil-Am. Association of Pittsburg, Calif.; American Legion Post 550 and Philippine Scouts Heritage Society of San Francisco. Anthony was a regular attendee at St. Basil's Catholic Church and Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, at Colonial Chapels. A Catholic Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at. St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon.
