Born in Conceicao, Faial, Azores, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Maria D. (Fraga) DeCastro.
Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Rosa DeCastro Russell of Providence; two sons, Fernando M. DeCastro of Providence, Mario A. DeCastro of East Providence; two sisters, Rosa DeCastro and Carolina Santos both of East Providence; one brother, Fernando A. DeCastro in Lisbon and nine grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joao A. DeCastro and Maria Valentina Venceslau.
