Anastasia Veronica DeCicco (Healey), age 95, of Lakemoor, died peacefully Thursday morning, October 10, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1918, in Holyrood, Newfoundland, to John and Mary (Corbett) Healey. On December 2, 1943, she married Benjamin A. DeCicco in Placentia, Newfoundland. They met and fell in love while he was serving in the US Army during World War II. Anastasia 's life revolved around her husband and very large family. She was a loving wife, caring mother, and the sweetest grandmother. Her personality accommodated all. Her feistiness built character, her drive gave strength, and her compassion spawned kindness. Everyone that new Anastasia felt the deep love that she offered. She was, and will always be remembered as a true gift to her family and friends. The Family would like to thank Journey Care Hospice for their loving care. Survivors include her children, Benjamin W., Linda M., John A. and Thomas DeCicco, all of McHenry; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. We know that Anastasia would want to remember Annie Rhoades, who is a friend and was caregiver of both Anastasia and Ben. Annie is loved dearly by our family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years; her parents; a grandson, Adam T. DeCicco; her sisters, Mary, Mildred, Nell, and a brother, Thomas. The visitation will be Monday October 14, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry, where prayers will be said on Tuesday October 15, 2013 at 9:15 am at the funeral home, before going to St. Patrick Catholic Church for 10:00am Mass celebration. Interment will be in St. Patrick countryside Cemetery. Memorials may be made for Parkinsons disease or to the family.
