Born Rose Lentini in Castelvetrano, Sicily, Italy, she moved to the United States at age 17 and settled in Brooklyn. She moved to New Dorp in 1968.
Mrs. DeFeo graduated from high school in Sicily in 1955, and then worked as a seamstress for over 30 years, owned a company, European Touch, which she operated out of her home.
"She enjoyed making any and everything you needed without patterns; wedding dresses, curtains, blankets, anything," said her family.
Mrs. DeFeo also had a passion for gardening and had volunteered for the Staten Island Chapter of Meals on Wheels.
She was a longtime parishioner of Our lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church, New Dorp.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Nick; a son, Nick Jr.; two daughters, Barbara Muench and Linda Villi; a brother, Nino Lentini; two sisters, Marie Lentini and Pina Morone, and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Hanley Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
