ALBERTA E. BARTHOLOMEW, 84, RETIRED SEAMSTRESS
Alberta Elmira (DeHaven) Bartholomew, 84, formerly of Limerick, widow of Raymond W. Bartholomew, died Saturday in ManorCare of Pottstown. Born in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Bedford B. DeHaven and Daisy Viola (Rhoads) DeHaven. Mrs. Bartholomew worked as a seamstress at Pennhurst for many years, retiring in 1983. She was a former member of Searles Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bartholomew was a member of the Limerick Historical Society and an honorary member of the Goodwill Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are a daughter, Emma Jeanne Wiggins of Montevallo, Alabama; two sisters, Virginia McCarthy and Minnie Schreyer, both of Pottstown; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bartholomew was preceded in death by a son, Raymond W. Bartholomew; two brothers, Irvin DeHaven and Ralph DeHaven; and one sister, Clara Sterling. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Houck Funeral Home, Charlotte and Grace Streets, Pottstown, with the Rev. Ken Dewalt officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Hecktown, PA. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
