Jim grew up in Perry Sound then helped his dad on the farm and was a member of the fire department.
He married Bertha Ada Louise McCullough on June 10, 1910. They went to California for a few years, returned to Perry Sound and then moved to Houghton, Saskatchewan.
In 1923 Jim filed on a homestead in the Arborfield District. They built a small home and cleared the land. In the winter he worked in bush camps. Later he was employed by United Grain Growers Construction for many years before retiring and moving to Arborfield.
Jim and Bea were the parents of one son.
