Death Of Mrs. Clarence Dehner
Clarence Resident Passes Away After a Long Illness

Mrs. Clarence Dehner died at her home in north Clarence Saturday morning, March 2nd, after a prolonged illness and months of suffering. She had suffered with cancer for a long period and everything possible had been done to effect a cure and to alleviate her suffering. For some time she has known that her death was merely a matter of time and faced the end with the greatest composure. Her hundreds of friends in this and in Macon county have watched her losing fight with heart-broken sympathy and the great crowd that filled the Methodist church and overflowed into the street on the day of the funeral was a tribute of appreciation, given to few individuals at their passing.
Mary Alida Dehner was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Strachan and was born in 1888. At the age of 15 she united with the Mt. Pleasant church east of Clarence and later transferred her membership to the Clarence Methodist church. She was a member of the Delta Alpha class of that church and of the Rebekah Lodge of Clarence.
She was married to Clarence Dehner Nov. 1st, 1905 and two children, Truman anil Trelma, were born to them. The daughter died at the age of 14 months, the son survives to mourn his mother's death. Besides the son mentioned and her husband, she leaves three brothers, David, of California, Jesse and William, of this community.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. L. C. Maggart assisted by Rev. S. Knupp and J. S. Howard. The burial service was in charge of the Rebekah Lodge.
