Marie Delaney Ryan, 40, wife of Grover Ryan of Navarino died at her home Saturday, April 3. Born in Moravia, August 4, 1899, she was the daughter of James S. & Mary Martin Delaney. She was a graduate of Moravia High School and Cortland Normal and taught school at Moravia and Rochester. She moved to Marcellus about 20 years ago. On November 1, 1920, she was married to Grover J. Ryan and has since lived in Navarino. About 7 years ago she began to fail, but was not seriously ill until a short time ago.
Cheerful and generous of diposition, she made friends easily and was highly respected by all who knew her. She was a good neighbor and a faithful member of her church and an untiring worker. Her place in the community will never be filled. Mrs. Ryan's funeral was one of the largest
to be held in this community. The home was filled with flowers sent by admiring friends.
Services were held at the home at 9:30 Tuesday morning and at St. Francis Church, Marcellus at 10:30. Her uncle, Rev. Joseph Curtin of Clyde officiated, assisted by Rev. Daniel J. Harnett, Rev. William F. Brennan and Rev. Father Kelly. Burial was made in Assumption Cemetery.
Surviving besides her husband, are a son and daughter, Joseph and Jean; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. James S. Delaney; a sister, Mrs. Edward Mahan; a brother, Bernard Delaney; and several nieces and nephews. Bearers were; Peter, Frank, John & Daniel Curtin, John Duggan & John Lucid.
