DAVENPORT - Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Sr. Clara Dembek, O.Carm, 80, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Chapel at the Kahl Home for the Aged and Infirm, Davenport. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Kahl Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held at the Kahl Home one hour before service time on Saturday. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary, Davenport.

Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral is assisting the sisters and family with arrangements.

Sr. Clara died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, after a sudden illness.

Sister was born August 15, 1928, in Chicago, a daughter of Stanley and Clara (Kubiak) Dembek. She entered the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged & Infirm, August 21, 1949, in New York, and professed her vows March 21, 1951. Sister received her LPN Degree from Scott Community College, Davenport, and has been with the Kahl Home since 1971. She was previously with the former Sacred Heart Home, Chicago, the former Pennsylvanian Nursing Home, West Palm Beach, Fla., Riverside Drive Priest Residence, New York, and the former Carol Manor Nursing Home, Hyattsville, Md.

Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home for the Aged.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents, sisters , Irene and Ruth, and a niece, Mary Edrmann. May they rest in peace.
