She was the wife of Allen DeWert whom she married in 1950 and was preceded in death by him in 2002.
Gertrude had worked for Corning Inc. as a Grinder Operator for several years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, who loved gardening. She had also won the Dedicated Employee Award from Corning Inc., and was voted the Best Grandmother by her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons: Dylan (Rhonda) DeWert of Corning, and Aubrey (Kathy) DeWert of Painted Post, two brothers: Frank (Delores) Russell of Painted Post, and Richard (Margaret) Russell of FL, a sister-in-law, Rhea DeWert of Beaver Dams; grandchildren, Jamie, Dylan Jr., and Dalton DeWert; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Gertrude was predeceased by her sisters, Bessie Torpy, Velma Blodgett, Eva Fasset, and Marjorie Rodburn.
