Robert was born in Campbell, NY, Dec 26, 1944, the son of the late Francis and Beatrice (Wagner) DeWert.
He was employed by Dresser Rand for 27 years as a machinist.
He was the husband of Donna Smith whom he married on Dec 31, 1965, in Presho, NY.
Robert was a fun and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He always had a wise crack or joke to say. He enjoyed being secret Santa, as a happy child made him smile.
He is survived by his wife Donna at home; one daughter, Crystal (Kevin) McCannon of Beaver Dams; two sons, Robert (Natalie) DeWert of Campbell and Daniel DeWert of Elmira; seven sisters: Phyllis Gardner, Elizabeth (Carl) Rosenblatt, Joan (Clarence) Lovell, Carol Shaut, Susan (Robert) Harshberger, Deborah (Terry) Harndon, and Pamela DeWert; ten brothers: Francis (Ruth), Kenneth (Shirley), Douglas (Yvonne), Lawrence (Faye), John, Thomas (Margaret), Ralph, Charles (Tammie), Brian, and Dale (Debbie); grandchildren: Christopher Kitchens, Robert, Alisa, Daniel, Rachelle, and Fawn DeWert, Shannon Benjamin, Katherine Miller, Cassandra Church, Beth DeWert, Jonathan Hawkins, Douglas Church, and Desiree Miller; 3 g-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wed from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Phillips Funeral Home Inc., 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, where Funeral Services will be held on Thur at 11 AM with Rev. Matthew Pickering officiating. Burial will be in Presho Cemetery.
