Allan Dexter's daughter Pam wrote this about her father: "Dad was a great, gental man. He was so helpful to everyone. At his funeral many commented on what a gentleman he was. Dad became ill in the fall of 1999. He suffered a seizure. After tests, he was diagnosed with a fatal brain cancer. He had surgery in December to try to remove the tumor. He rallied immedicately after surgery, but never was to come home again. He apparently suffered further seizures which put him in a "coma-like" state. On occasion he would appear to be able to communicate with us...most of the time he was not able to. Nickname: "Deacon" - because he lived with a priest and practically ran the Episcopal church in Bellows Falls. At home he was known as "Son."
