Graveside services for Mr. Dennis Hyams Dezendorf, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Alexandria, with Reverend Tracy MacKenzie officiating, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held immediately following at Horseshoe Drive United Methodist Church, 1600 Horseshoe Dr., Alexandria, Louisiana.

Mr. Dezendorf, age 78, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria. He was a member of Horseshoe Drive United Methodist Church and Oliver #84 Masonic Lodge. Co-founder of Cenla Motorcycle Club. He was a 1950 graduate of Bolton High School and attended Louisiana Tech and Louisiana College. He retired from Sears and the V.A. Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. Dezendorf, Jr. and Maggie S. Dezendorf; two brothers, Edward L. Dezendorf, III and Jack R. Dezendorf.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alice Irby Dezendorf of Alexandria; three daughters, Denise D. Gatlin and husband Chester of Alexandria, Lynne D. Hardin and husband Kent of Alexandria, Cynthia D. Brown and husband Dewayne of Alexandria; one brother, William R. Dezendorf, Sr. and wife Barbara of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Adam W. Gatlin, Jessica A. Gatlin, Kyle W. Mays, Caleb G. Hardin and Emily L. Methvin; five great grandchildren, Madelynn Dubois, Gracie Gatlin, Garrett Gatlin, Dylan Methvin and Kaylee Methvin; also survived by his loving canine companion, De-De.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Brown, Chester Gatlin, Kent Hardin, Adam Gatlin, Kyle Mays and Caleb Hardin.

Memorials may be made to Horseshoe Drive United Methodist Church, Alexandria.
