Barbara J. Dickens, 74, of Aledo, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Aledo Rehab and Health Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Aledo. Burial is at Aledo cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Fippinger Funeral Home, where memorials may be left to the Aledo Rehab and Heath Care Center.

She was born Jan. 5, 1937, in Aledo, to Guy and Alice Schultz Dale. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1956 and married Kenneth Dickens on Aug. 31, 1956.

Barbara was a homemaker, assisted area families with childcare and took care of the elderly in their home.

Survivors include a daughter, Tina (Larry) Ellis, of LaCrosse, Wis.; two sons, Gary (Shelly) Catlett, of St. Cloud, Fla., Carlos Catlett, of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Dale, of Aledo; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, two brothers, Marty (Donna) Dale and Jack (Ila) Dale, preceded her in death.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Aledo Health and Rehab Center for their love and care to Barbara throughout the years.
