Myria Sonja Dietz Parham, of Summerville, died peacefully September 12, 2012, of natural causes.

Sonja was born in Dresden, Germany on August 24, 1922 to the late Friedrich Wilhelm Dietz and Martha John Dietz.

She graduated from the Kunst Academy in Plauen, Germany with a degree in lace design.

On November 27, 1947, she married an American GI, William Russell Parham, Jr. in Munich. She arrived in Charleston to meet her new family on Christmas Eve, 1947.

In her younger years, she was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. She devoted her life to being the best wife, mother and grandmother she could be. She fulfilled these roles so lovingly. In her own quiet way, she helped so many people in need, never expecting acknowledgement.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon P Hite (Arnold J) of Johns Island, SC and her grandson, Dr. J. Hite of Hilliard, Ohio. Sonja was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her sister, Mignon Raquet of Hermosa Beach, CA.

Funeral services will be held, September 21, 2012, in Summerville at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Chapel at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Summerville Cemetery.
