Merle Dillard Alston, age 88, of Troy, AL, previously of Dawson, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Troy Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
Merle was born September 26, 1925 to the late Marvin Dillard and the late Mervin Davis Dillard. She was a retired telephone operator with General Telephone & Electronics Corporation, where she worked for 34 years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Wilbur Dillard, Harmon Dillard, and Julian Dillard; and a special sister-in-law, Sis Dillard. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Charlie Alston; sisters-in-law, Anita Dillard and Mary Frank Laviner; brother-in-law, Frank Alston; and a number of nieces and nephews
