Melissa Ellen Doll, daughter of Jacob and Mattha Doll, was born near North English, Iowa, Oct. 29, 1873, and departed this life Jan. 21, 1934, at the age of 61 years, 2 months and 23 days. She was united In marriage to James T. Baines Aug. 4, 1909, the young couple moving onto the Baines farm one half mile west of Montgomery, where they lived until the death of Mr. Baines nine years ago. Since then she has made her home here In Montgomery.
In early life she united in membership with the Methodist Episcopal church, ever honoring her profession with a sincere Christian life, passing away in full assurance of life eternal. She leaves to mourn her departure four sisters and one brother; Mrs. C. L. Cline of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Margaret Roive of North English, Mrs. Layton Rowe of Manly, Mrs. Henry Schmierer of Mitchell, S. D. and G. W. Doll of North English; also several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, and always look forward to their leading a life of happiness and prosperity. Having several nieces and nephews she became a great lover of children.
