EUREKA, March 17.— James Dollar, the newly appointed superintendent of the Occidental Mill Company, died this morning from an attack of la grippe. Dollar caught cold while in the woods a few days ago, and his death was sudden and unexpected. Dollar's wife and two daughters arrived here yesterday from San Rafael, to make this city their home.

James was married to Margaret Carson, born abt 1843 in England and was the father of one son and two daughters.

James had two brothers, Robert Dollar and John Melville Dollar (Both shown on the same monument) He also had half-siblings: Mary, William, Janet, Joseph, David, and Alexander Dollar.

After the death of his mother in Scotland, his father William remarried and about 1862 immigrated to Ottawa, Canada with his large family. William died there in 1873. He married about 1878 and lived in Bracebridge, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. He and his family came with his family to California in 1893.
