She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 16, 1932, to Mildred Turner and Frank Taylor Donelson.
She graduated from Miss Hutchison's School for Girls in Memphis, in 1950. She entered Mount Vernon Junior College in Washington DC, graduating in 1952. She was the Queen of the Memphis Cotton Carnival in 1954. She was a member of the Memphis Junior League, St. John's Episcopal Church and co-owner of LaBoutique with Martha Drennon Crabtree. Upon her marriage to George Theodore Houston, she moved to Vicksburg in 1970. She was an active member of The Church of the Holy Trinity in Vicksburg. She was a founding member of the Holy Trinity Flower Guild, a former vestry member, and was currently Director of The Flower Guild. She was a member of The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, and served on the board of The Dumbarton House, Washington DC. She was a former board member of the Vicksburg Hospital. She loved flowers, animals, bridge, travel, and was dedicated to the work of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Turner and Frank Taylor Donelson, her brother, Frank Taylor Donelson (Virginia), her husbands George Theodore Houston and Robert Donald Ehrhardt .
She is survived by three nieces, Helen Johnson Donelson, Mildred Donelson Huffman (Gary), Virginia Donelson Curry (Edward), seven great nieces, two great great nephews, and three great great neice.
Visitation will be in the Parish Hall at The Church of the Holy Trinity at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, January 16, 2015, with the funeral service to follow at 10:30. Interment will be at 10 a.m., on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.
