Helen (Hoover) Donnini, 90, went to her heavenly rest Monday, July 13, 2015, surrounded by her family and the comforts of home. She was born May 22, 1925, to Earl Hoover and Sarah Firestone Conn in Springfield Township, Pa. In 1945, she married James Donnini, her hubby for 69 years until his passing on May 31, 2015. Mr. and Mrs. Donnini shared an adventuresome life together, living in 10 different states and Australia. She approached the next move with enthusiasm and joy of what the next new experience and would be whom she would meet. Mrs. Donnini was known for her kind and thoughtful heart. She made it a life goal to send holiday wishes, birthday greetings and get well notes to all she knew. A northern transplant, she quickly absorbed southern hospitality and provided delicious comforting food to all that walked through her door and sat at her table. She had a true gift for sewing and hardwork, and grew beautiful flowers and vegetables where ever they lived. Mr. and Mrs. Donnini raised four daughters. Helen Donnini Maynard preceded them in death in 2000. Mourning their beloved mother's passing are daughters, Roberta Donnini Dorning, of Madison, Ala., Alesandra Donnini Saunders, of Eustis, Fla., and Jimmie Michele Donnini, of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Martha Eaton Garber, Wayne Eaton, Sarah Griffis Slager, Michael Griffis, Jessica Dorning Allen and Abigail Grace Chernault; great-grandchildren, Rhyan Sledge, Chelsey Leigh Slager and Tyler Slager; sister, Mary Buell, of Virginia; brother, Gerald Conn, of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister and four brothers. Mrs. Donnini was a member of Morrison Methodist Church and the Ruth circle. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Normalville Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Bonomo officiating. (Everyone please go directly to the cemetery). Arrangements are under the direction of the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft (712-455-2310). Memorial contributions can be made to: Morrison Methodist Church, 901. W. Main St., Leesburg, FL 34748. To leave a message or send condolences, please visit www.brooksfuneralhomes.com.
