Lois M. Bruchs, 75, a retired office manager, died Saturday at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. She was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Ogden, Utah, and lived in Pacific Grove for 40 years. She worked for 24 years with several medical groups in Monterey, including the Thorngate Medical Group. She worked at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula before retiring in 1995. Mrs. Bruchs was active in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Children's Home Society, Community Hospital Auxiliary, League of Women Voters, American Field Service, Quota Club, VNA Volunteers and First United Methodist Church in Pacific Grove. She enjoyed walking, baking, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William A. Bruchs of Pacific Grove; two daughters, Mary Kanalakis of Monterey and Sue Jaksha of Salinas; two sons, Thomas Bruchs of San Francisco and Kenneth Bruchs of Angels Camp; a sister, Wilma Miller of Sacramento; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial celebration will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Pacific Grove. Paul Mortuary will handle the arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association Memorial and Honor Program Call Center, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
