BOURNEVILLE: Lafayette "Lafe" Downing, 61, of Bourneville, died at 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at home. He was born in Clarksburg, OH on January 6, 1951, the son of the late Austin Gene and Mary B. Daugherty Downing.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Downing of Chillicothe; his children, Lafayette and Gus; his companion, Kathy; their grandchildren, Harley, Michael, Courtney, Joboa, Alexandra, Samantha, CJ, Brett, Alisha, Abby; special kids, Mitchell, Christopher, and Harlan; special friends, Clyde, Fred, Linda, Joe and Bonnie; two sisters, Judy (Dale) Smith of Clarksburg, Telisa (Richard) Schoonover of Chillicothe; two brothers, Jerry (Amy) Downing and Dave Downing all of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by a brother, Austin Downing.
Lafe was a carnival worker and had also worked at MPW Powerwashing. He had also served as a volunteer with the Huntington Township Fire Department.
Family and friends are asked to gather at Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg for a graveside service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012. Calling hours will not be held. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort is serving the family.
